Of course, Leslie Moonves would "do the right thing" by FIRING Don Imus. I Hope Rush Limbaugh & Michael Savage would get the ax too for polluting the airwaves with constant racist & prejudice remarks against minorities and people who don't believe in their extremist right-wing propaganda.

Unable to compete against conservatives in talk radio (think Air America), liberals want to abolish it. So much for the free and open exchange of ideas.

Air America is doing quite well now, in case you were wondering.
And Rayman is right. Limbaugh, Coulter, Savage, Beck, Drudge, etc. spew vehement hatred every day on their broadcasts that, unlike Imus show, is NOT meant to be funny. Instead it is meant to get people to HATE gays, women, minorities, liberals, etc. THAT is the difference.

I fail to see why anyone in America is listening to wackos like Rosie O'Donnel, Donald Trump, Sharpton, or Jackson. They were falling all over Michael Jackson. Where were they when Jeffrey Dahlmer was being murdered while he was in jail? Or the bleeding hearts for the Soledad brothers? Both far more serious implications. The media need to stop turning to the likes of Sharpton and Jackson as if they were the racial police. Stop giving them a platform, and maybe they will just go away. Their words have no meaning, and their credibility is zippo. But they have their following, mostly mindless drones I fear. He was probably only guilty of bad humor. ...they better play basketball and well!

He'll make more on Satellite. Is Viacom invested there?
Let us face it, CBS is a SouthWestern company hoping to make points as NeoConservatives.
Sure, Imus may have gone to far. But he rarely makes me as sick to my stomach as Stern's show.
He made comments about female basketball players at an elite private school that few of us can contemplate going to.
They are tall women, who were used in the butt of a joke. Do you think they do not use short men for the butt of jokes? Furthermore, Black women are not the only nappy- haired women. White women, particularly athletic, often times curl their hair.
IS THIS THING ONE BIG "CROC" DESIGNED TO SELL SATELLITE RADIO SUBSCRIPTIONS?

What competition? Infinity and Clear Channel own almost all the radio stations and are owned by conservatives! Don't fool yourself!

The problem is, the black community is filled with hypocrites. Have you seen the billboard top two? Both of those songs have been there for about 15 WEEKS and they're filled with ho's b1tches and pimps. Nobody's taking a vigil outside the studios for them to off the air.
The black community just doesn't want to look at itself in the mirror. And THAT'S why Imus had to go.

You don't know jack about what the black community wants! For you information, the majority of blacks DO NOT care for hard core rap or any other type of music, like hard rock that promotes devil worship and other DISGUSTING things...don't hear any hue and cry from the white community about that, either...the Grateful Dead and their ilk are worshipped like gods by a great many of you. But to get back to your comment, you're as off base as you can be about that and the issue has been and continues to be addressed within the black community. Don't speak of things that you know nothing of.

There's something in this country that everyone seems to forget- freedom of speech. I mean, it's not always a good thing and sometimes starts scandals and stories, but honestly- it's a free country and people are allowed to make comments and judge and most of the time, say what they want. Everyone may not always agree but hey- you can't please everyone; it doesn't quite work that way. If you don't like listening to Imus, Rush, and Savage then turn it off. It's not that hard to do. I agree, sometimes their comments may cross the line but they are joking and if that offends anyone, loosen up.

Rayman - if you want freedom of speech you cannot deny it to those you disagree with. Everyone who dislikes Imus can switch him off and the ratings will do the rest. There is no need for the mob to burn him at the stake for saying something stupid. I never liked Imus anyway.
By the way I have no use for left-wing propaganda spewed by many in Hollywood and the media. I don't want them fired, unemployed, I just get my news from Fox and don't watch their films and such nonsense as they put forth.

why would you want to use the word anyways unless you are about spreading hate? It is not correct when it is use by a black person, however this is a word invented by whites to demean blacks, when it is used by blacks that intention is not there, when it is used by whites it takes on it's true meaning...same as two girlfriends calling each other the B word, you as their man knows that they would have your balls if you were to call either of them the B word.
If i am wrong ladies please correct me!
As far as I can see the only people fighting for usage of this word are raciest to begin with. I cant think of any decent person I know that would put up a fight for the use of a hurtful word, what is the point.

It seems as if people are afraid that their rights are being eroded if this word is taken away from them. Who cares what the Rappers say in their songs, I have had times when I felt like killing a person that made me angry but even with all the killings going on I know it's wrong, and I would never kill another person because i have the common sense to know what's wrong. I would think, we as a nation would be calling for the total eradication of this word, and not the right to use it or who have more or less right to the word. One would have thought a week ago that we have evolved as a nation but I doubt that would be the thought today.
You hate Al Sharpton that's fine with me you hate JJ that's fine with me also I have times when I think they are total asses and times when i say thank god they are there to keep the light on an unarmed man being shot 50 times.
But i digress, In reading these post and listening and watching the news I wonder if we ever left the 50's
Shame on US
