      A sidenote: I don't really get why this story has so many sinks. Do people sink a story just because they don't like what he said? I've always thought that to sink a story something has to be wrong with it: it has to false, misleading, spammy, xenofobic... Or should I really sink all stories I don't like? Can some Navigator respond?

        ubibene, you are correct. One should never 'sink' a story for mere political reasons. Good justifications for sinking a story include all of those that you mentioned. When used correctly the 'Sink' feature is a very useful tool in helping the users understand what the Netscape community in general is expecting.

        Well, when I see a story that conservatives are supporting it is invariably false or misleading. I then sink it. Haven't seen a pro right-wing story yet that wasn't either false or misleading.... it is the conservative nature to lie and mislead.

        Lincoln was the worst president in the US. Look at how many Americans he killed.

        Look at his corrupt draft system.

        Look at the corruption in buying supplies.

        His Secretary of War was continuously beated up by the press.

        He illegally suspended habeas corpus.

        He had traitors in Congress removed.

        He had terrible Generals and a Generals revolt. A General ran against him in 1864.

        The Democrats reviled him and wanted him to stop the war and make peace with the South and forget about slavery.

        He was the reason that for over 100 years Republicans couldn't get elected in the South.

          First of all President Davis did all those things too. And Lincon didn't want to go to war his hand was forced when the south succeeded, unlike the Iraq war which we did have a choice. Also most of the war wan't about slavery it was about preserving the union, only in the last year or so of the war did the issue of slavery come on the table. It was seen as the only way to reunite the country. What would you have Lincon do? Leave the south as a confederacy? This is what's happening in Iraq right now and it's not our place to interfere any further. Just like the Vietnam war we have no business there. We are supposed to learn from our mistakes not repeat them. We were in Vietnam for years and lost thousands of troops and for what? Vietnam is still a communist country today.

          lolololol ur kidding me ,first off ,he did sihn the imacipation proclaimation at the start of the war ,but the civil war was fought over states individulal rights to govern themselves.first off the constitution its self was against slavery and our forefathers debated long and hard and almost aboloshed it when the country was newly formed but need that it could lead to instability ,and lincoln held this country together when we needed it.think if we had a Bush in house then he would have let the south leave the union and took kickbacks from slave traders there much like he and his lacky igor ,i mean chaney ,do today from big buisness.then he would have invaded mexico and stated they started the whole thing

    I agree with "Who cares what Trump thinks?" And though I agree with this statement, that he's another celeb getting attention because he's famous--and probably one who hasn't really done his homework as much as some of the others.

    But if conservative celebs (they DO exist) want their opinions trumpeted all over the airwaves, they can just as much exposure--it's the nature of celebrity. I don't blame the celebrities for using the fact that the media eats up everything they say, to make their political opinions public. I'd do the same if I knew anyone would pay attention. Wouldn't you?

    That said, I believe, as some other commenters out here have mentioned, that Trump just wants more air time, and that he doesn't really care all that much about politics.

    And I'll lay 3-to-1 odds that he voted for Bush--twice.

The present Iraqi government is Shia dominated that will never be accepted by the Sunnis, Never!! So a continuous civil war is inevitable.

        Agree with that. This war was sold on the basis of an imminent threat to the U.S. the Mushroom cloud. Classic Bait and Switch. When there were not wmd suddenly it became this idealistic push to force democracy down the throat of the Iraqis. The one drawback of democratic govts is you cant force them down people's throats. They have to be embedded and grow from within. It is why they counter intuitively so stable. They start at the roots and grow up.

      All of the soldiers that have died in Iraq have simply been WASTED LIVES. Nothing else to say about them. Saddam probably would have just left, anyways, after he had destroyed all of the WMDs as we saw on CNN.

      As soon as troops were sent to Iraq on the basis of lies as a pretext for confrontation with Iran, and destabilization of the middle east, the American people have been held hostage over their children.

But it doesn't say much for Bush and his administration when someone like Trump who is pro-business & from the same money class as the Republican Establishment goes about trashing his own kind. I guess that just shows the difference between a smart Northern Blue State Entreprenuer like Trump & a drunken spendthrift Red State Moron like Bush. The only thing that Bush ever did as a businessman was to run companies severely into the ground. Now he & his demolition crew are doing that to America.     Stephen Johnson - I hope not. I like what he said except he will never criticize a friend, Hillary or Rudy.
