The leftist elite "do as I say, not as I do" is alive and well at the Gore plantation.

Here is where Gore purchases all of his electricity according to the Nashville Electric Service:
http://www.nespower.com/green_power_switch.aspx
"What is green power? Green power is electricity generated from clean, renewable resources such as solar, wind and methane gas.
How much does it cost? You can buy green power in 150-kilowatt-hour blocks (about 12 percent of a typical household's monthly energy use). Each block will add $4 to your monthly power bill. Green power cost more because the technology used to capture these renewable resources is more expensive than traditional power generation methods."
It is not carbon offsets purchased in Bangladesh. He purchases Green electricity. This is just another strawman by a rightwing blogger who choose to tailor the facts to meet an agenda.

Go indeed to the web site and read about it. I was not aware of this regarding Gore and how he purchases his energy. So apparently not only how he uses it is not known therefore you cannot claim waste but he participates in renewable energy purchase. He can afford it of course and the average american may not afford it as easily. But IF true its a very critical point. How can you attack someone for using too much energy if he uses energy that provides minimal damage to environment in order to be produced? This is such a transparent alteration of information. The fact is that energy power from the sun alone is about ~500 W/m^2 (day night avg). This cannot be captured very efficiently but it is in fact so much that even if each house could capture 10% of that for an area of 20 m^2 (200 ft^2) they would have all energy needed free. If you cannot do that at your home but buy it from the company that can arent you in essence free to use as much energy as you see fit?

We have that here in MN too, and maybe they are better in TN, but Xcel Energy has no problem making the green crowd feel good about their actions, but the fact is, all that money that they collect for wind power is just sitting in the bank because they could build the turbines, but it takes years to get approval for the transmission lines from the PUC. I'm sure Al feels really good about his actions, but his "foot print" probably won't be nutral for many many years.
Just tell me this. If I had every family member in my household driving H2s, but I "offset" my emissions would you still call ME green? Hell no. Don't give Al "ego" Gore a free pass either.
Thanks Eliot. I love how these liberal netscape "anchors" pipe in their 2 cents when there are too many people making good points against their leftist heroes.

This Right Wing Spin comes to you courtesy of the Tennessee Center For Policy Research via the Drudge Report. Drudge avoided the drudgery of telling you that the TCPR receives their funding from the AEI, the neo-con bright boys that told us Saddam had WMDs, Invasion could be done on the cheap, and we'd be out of there in a year as democracy broke out all over the middle east.
Drudge also neglects to mention that the Gore "mansion" is not only a home but a 20 room office complex. Its energy use is typical for a facility of its size. And Gore actually pays considerably more for his electricity because he chooses to buy green energy, produced by renewable sources.
Check TCPR, AEI and Mr. Drudge to see it they measure up to the people they twist facts to criticize.
It looks like the Repuglicans have learned NOTHING from the drubbing they suffered in 2006. It's all still lie and spin, obfuscating fighting straw men.

Typical of all elites!
Maybe Gore needs to be given lessons by Ed Bagley Jr. At least he tries to practice what he preaches
Although I don't always agree with what people say. I have respect for them if they actually try to live by the advice they give others

Al Gore is the type who tells the masses to conserve etc but thinks his advice applies to everyone else and not him!

Hey Dave, where is Neophile when you need him huh? He is usually the first one here when the topic is Global Warming. Looks like it would be too "Inconvenient" for him to come here and defend this...lol.
This is so typical of the left though. Do as I say from my ivory tower, but not as I do.
I guess while we are being told to change all our light bulbs to "green" lights, he must be using that 200,000kw per year (yes, 20x the average American household! 20x!!!) to create his newest version on the internet (Gore 2.0) on the Whoper from War Games..lol.
Do you want to play a game???? :)

And I think it was Al Gore who crossed the line when the same month his sister died in 1984, he received a $1,000 speaking fee from U.S. Tobacco. The next year, he voted against cigarette and tobacco tax increases three times and favored a bill allowing major cigarette makers to purchase discounted tobacco.
Reply -

bebbmi1 year, 5 months ago
I am missing your point here ... did the tobacco industry force his sister to smoke? Do they force anyone to smoke? If anyone who smokes cigarettes dies from lung cancer it is a VOLUNTARY death. It is no-ones fault but their own. Should we try to shut down the auto industry because people die in cars? How about people who poke themselves in the eye with pencils? Better stop the manufacture of those weapons of death! Whatever happened to personal responsibility for your actions? I can't believe there are people out there who freely walk among us and think this way!

Al Gore is a "legacy," just like George Bush. His money comes from his father, who was supported (at the tune of $1,000,000 a year) by Armand Hammer, late chairman of Occidental Petroleum.
Besides being one of Tennessee's most profligate consumers of energy, Gore is also one of the state's leading polluters, from mineral deposits being worked on his property.
Perhaps you didn't notice that Al was a Congressman for eight years, a Senator for eight more, and Vice President for eight MORE! Yet during that quarter-century when he was in a position to influence or shape public policy he never discovered "Global Warming" or "Energy Conservation." Now that he has no political future, he can "take the lead." Yeah, right!
So far as "passion" goes, Al doesn't know the meaning of the word. His interest is limited to Al Gore.

Okay I know some of you don't like facts but here is another one to disprove the above statement. In 1992 Al Gore wrote a book about the environment called "Earth in the Balance". This is not a new issue for him it is an issue that he has been involved in for almost 2 decades. I know the facts do not fit your agenda perhaps you should try to use talking points that are factual to advance your agenda. No that won't work there probably aren't any. LOL. Only fools lie when the truth doesn't work for them.

You know, if you conservatives nazis actually cared about the wasteful energy use I (a liberal. I'll permit you to call me Mr. Liberal if you must sully my day with your textual feces) might be more on your side here. However it is clear that what is the issue is not Gore's purported wasteful use of energy, it is his "hypocricy" (and since the facts presented by you conservatives are never based on anything other than wishful thinking, I doubt the truth of the story to begin with).
As with so many of your right wing claims, the real issues are unimportant to you. All you really care about is how much mud you can make stick and who cares if it is the truth or lies.
Ugh. You conservatives are some of the most traitorous, un-American, truly evil, fascist bastards to ever foul my great country.

If old Al REALLY believes that we are at the tipping point of no return for our planet -- as he keeps telling us -- how can he not do EVERYTHING within his power to be more green....Solar panels and fuel cells would work wonderfully in TN. He hasn't even signed up for the "greener" option with his electric company. He could use commercial air lines for his excursions. He could get rid of a house or three -- or just downsize -- what do he and Tipper need with huge houses when there are only two of them.
Now, if we're NOT really at the tipping point, and we don't REALLY know for sure that human activity is really leading to the global warming (which might just be land use issues --like urban heat islands rather than atmospheric heating) then no problem with him using his wealth to live an energy extravagant life -- he can afford it. The problem is, that he SWEARS that the planet cannot afford it -- yet he's not changing his ways, he just wants us to change ours.

My facts are based on reported facts, from government reports, newpapers, and magazines, and the fact that I have personally known Al Gore since 1982.
The best description of Al comes from a former Democratic Party Gubernatorial candidate. "Al Gore," he said, "is the guy that everyone at a cocktail party tries to avoid." The summation is priceless, and it is perfect.

Why? I don't care if Gore gets up in the morning and burns fossil fuel for fun. The fact of the matter is he has made more positive impacts on environment than what ever little damage his personal energy use is causing. Let me put it to you in a arithmetical way:
Net Positive impact = Overall Impact - Gores Usage
Hypothetically let's assume, overall impact is 100,000 times more than what gore is causing.
Therefore,
Net Positive impact = 100,000 - 1
= 99,999
We can round this up to 100,000. So, no net negative impact.
