I find Jennifer Aniston, as both an actress and a celebrity, to be unbearably dull. And whilst I'm usually all about trashing boring celebrities, Caryn James' piece on Aniston in this morning's New York Times is pretty brutal. While Brad and Angie effortlessly manipulate the media, Jen seems "like a case study in how not to become a movie star, how to forfeit the title of America's sweetheart." Ouch.

It\'s a bit of a slam at Vince Vaughn too. I actually thought it was neat that she went for someone who is funny and seems to be a genuine nice guy rather than another pretty boy and I think that overall the public has approved of a relationship that seems sort of average as opposed to the global hottie tour that is Brangelina. \"She has reached beneath her on the celebrity food chain?\" Oh, please.

I do adore her in Office Space, only because she seems semi-real in that role. The mainstream media needs to stop bashing people on account of who they date, it\'s pathetic.

The weirdest thing is that Caryn James is generally considered to be a top-notch reporter and Hollywood analyst. You have to wonder how a respected journalist goes about pitching a total slam job such as this to her editor. I almost get the feeling that she wrote half of it BEFORE The Break-Up opened at number one, assuming that the film would bomb, and when it didn\'t, she had to replace her (surely trenchant) analysis of why the movie failed with low-blow attacks on Aniston herself.
